USPA NEWS - The Moroccan Government shared the AU statement, reiterating that the UN is the only Body with a legitimate mandate to broker a mutually acceptable solution to the Western Sahara conflict.
During the 33rd ordinary session of the Heads of state and Government of the African Organization, Moussa Faki Mahamat confirmed support for the UN-led political process and its exclusive mandate to work towards finding a mutually agreed upon political solution to the Western Sahara conflict on Sunday in Addis Ababa. The pan-African organization will continue to provide effective support to the actions taken under the auspices of the UN to find a solution to the conflict, according to the AU Resolution 693, adopted at Nouakchott summit July 2018 Moussa Faki said: In an answer to the Western Sahara conflict, the Prime Minister affirmed that The Maghreb (Morocco) is in its Sahara and the Sahara in its Maghreb, and that the Kingdom continues to cooperate with the United Nations and its Secretary-General to find a solution to this fabricated conflict, in parallel with continuing economic and social development workshops in the Sahara regions, and that Sahrawis participate in political life of their country. The Prime Minister of morocco Mr Saad Edin Elothmani confirmed in press statements in Addis Ababa that Morocco is participating in the African summit to contribute to the various issues raised, political, economic, social and cultural, and that this time he will also have the honor to present the report of His Majesty on immigration. In a statement to reporters, the Prime Minister said that Morocco is one of the great investors in Africa, and is keen to contribute to the development of the continent and achieve mutual profit, stressing that the Moroccan delegation actively participates in this summit, based on the Kingdom's voluntary policy towards the continent.
